Personality: She is a shy, sweet tempered girl that likes to please people. She likes to have a good time though, and can get a little crazy under the right circumstances. She has a lot of friends, but only one best friend. She makes a point to be nice to people, but doesn't push anything. When it comes to competing and training, nothing is ever enough. She strives to be the best and does whatever it takes to get there. She loves her horse and will keep him safe under any circumstance. If you make her angry, it is never a good scene. Usually, she keeps her temper and gets back at you later, but occasionally she will lose her cool and let you have it. She tries to keep the peace though, and doesn't like to start arguments. She enjoys hanging out with friends and having fun, but she has a reserved side too, and enjoys to have her space and hang back from the crowd, alone in her room or someplace else. She isn't a very good talker, only with people she really knows. She is a little self-conscious at times, and finds it hard to fit in. If you get to know her, she won't let you down and will be a true friend till the end.
Background: She was born in Arizona in a tiny suburban town. She lived there with her brother David and sister Jennifer until she was six. Her father, Bob, bought a piece of property out in the middle of nowhere and Katie and her mother, Michele, and siblings went to live at Katie's grandmother's house until her father was finished building their new house. Within eight months, they had moved in to their new house, in a very rural neighborhood, that was occupied by only ten houses, including her own. They had a big acre of land, and her brother and sister moved out. When Katie was ten, her parents got her horseback riding lessons for Christmas. She was hooked after her first lesson, and soon worked for a ranch, exercising and grooming horses and working as a stable hand. She soon got her first horse and moved her to their property. One horse grew into two, two into three, and Katie soon had four horses that she loved. One buckskin was actually her trainers that Katie was working on for six months, and another was a younger horse that Katie was in the process of breaking. The other two included her father's horse and her first horse. One day she was riding her unbroken gelding for the third time when he bucked and writhed so hard that Katie flew off the front. She broke her left wrist, and was out for four weeks. She continued to ride but exactly a year and three days later, she was riding her father's horse in their arena when he went crazy. He bucked and kicked and threw so much of a fit that he didn't watch where he was going. He smashed Katie into the fence, and to try to get away, she performed an emergency dismount. She landed wrong and shattered her ankle in two places. Turns out there was a spider under his saddle blanket that had crept under from in the barn, and had bit him. Katie had to get surgery and was in a cast and crutches for eight weeks. She took her horse and came to the academy, but she can't ride yet because she still has a walking boot for four more weeks.
